That night when we danced

With every inhale of breath

The atoms of our bodies expanded up and out into the universe

And with every exhale we came back together again

We had always known that we came from the starry atoms above us

But we had never felt it quite as strongly as we did

In that moment when we danced

So whole and perfectly formed

We were at one with everything

Nothing mattered

We just flowed

We were so vast

“We are stardust” you said

“Every atom of our bodies was born from the fiery core of a star”

I looked into your sea blue eyes

And thought.. He is right. There is a whole universe in there.

We were adrift through space

We traveled past nebulas and trillions of stars

Hues of brilliant pinks, oranges and blues

The most beautiful colours we had ever seen.

And it didn’t matter that we would part ways tomorrow

Because this moment was forever imprinted on my soul

And even though we will one day transcend the earth

Love can never die.
